Dan set out on 1 October to walk 100 km in a full pink lion costume, finishing with a mountain climb. He posted the route and the footage every day. On 20 October the total read 102.73 km. Sponsorships stay open and every dollar goes to the charity.

A sanctuary on open land. Four things it will hold.
There is no building yet. No land has been bought. The plan is specific: pristine acreage in Queensland, at least half kept as forest, and four kinds of help on it.

Luminous Sanctum took part in Big Love Festival again, with lion dancing, blessings, workshops and a crafts stall, creating space for connection, creativity and shared learning.

Sandy and Dan marched in the Ekka parade as part of the Red Dragon Martial Arts lion dance team, celebrating cultural traditions with the wider community.

Sandy and Dan joined the Red Dragon Martial Arts lion dance team at the Tara Camel Races, sharing the energy and tradition of lion dancing with the regional community.

Talks at the I-Kuan Tao Temple
Sandy and Dan gave talks sharing personal experiences and spiritual reflections. Sandy's talk, Cultivating the Tao in Everyday Life, explored bringing these values into daily practice.

Youth camp at the I-Kuan Tao Temple
We helped run the I-Kuan Tao Temple youth camp, where the young people cooked their own meals with us supervising. It brought them together to learn, connect and grow.

Benita's shave at South Bank
Benita shaved her head at South Bank in memory of her husband, Patrick, and to raise awareness of bowel cancer. The pink lion joined her, and we were there to stand beside Benita and this meaningful cause.

Supporting our online community in person
We visited one of our TikTok supporters in hospital, bringing company, encouragement and a handmade gold turtle as a small gesture of care, taking our community connections beyond the screen.

Lunar New Year lion dancing
For Lunar New Year, Sandy and Dan performed lion dances with the Red Dragon Martial Arts team, celebrating culture, teamwork and community connection.

Three years on the mats
Dan has trained with Red Dragon Martial Arts for three years. Luminous Sanctum partners with the academy and supports its Wing Chun, Jow Ga and lion dance programs.

Live twice a day, every weekday
Morning and evening, Dan hosts TikTok lives on lion dance, Kung Fu, personal growth and the sanctuary. Free to join, with no pressure to give. The charity also gives money and volunteer hours to Amnesty International.

Daniel Rasmussen
Dan grew up without the things this sanctuary will offer: a stable home, protection and someone to catch him. Childhood neglect, medical trauma and homelessness came first. Then cancer, which took his reproductive capacity and much of his physical strength. He trains Wing Chun and lion dance at Red Dragon, goes live on TikTok twice a day and walks for the people who can't.
I am still here. I am still walking. And I walk for those who can't.

Sandy carried the same dream from the other side of life's experiences. With Dan she completed the incorporation, the ABN and the charity registration that make every dollar accountable. She is the one standing beside people at the hard moments, like Benita's shave at South Bank, and the one keeping the engine of this vision running.
A sanctuary is not a fantasy. It is a necessity.

Gary Rasmussen
Gary is Dan's father and the Secretary of Luminous Sanctum. He keeps the paperwork and the website in order, and joins the team when they head out on missions. He came on board after his best friend lost all his money and was left homeless. Gary and Dan took him in, and it showed them that anyone can lose their home after one hard event, whether that's an illness or losing a job.

Sifu Brett Fenton
Brett is a martial artist, small business owner and community mentor. Through Red Dragon Martial Arts he builds discipline, confidence and personal growth that reach well beyond the training floor, and his mentoring guided Dan all the way to his Wing Chun black sash. On the board he backs the vision of stronger, more resilient communities built on shared skills and real connection. Together, Red Dragon and Luminous Sanctum walk alongside each other, helping people find peace, build strength and shine bright.
